Vince's Market joins ClimateWise
They are an independent grocer with five locations in Central Ontario
ClimateWise is pleased to introduce Vince's Market as our newest member. Established in 1929, they have since grown the brand, with four main stores renowned for their fresh produce, a full salad bar, catering options, and an extensive lineup of prepared foods, bulk items and dairy products. Recently, they opened a micro store at Upper Canada Mall providing a curated selection of fresh items and groceries. Their slogan, Because food is one of life's greatest pleasures speaks to price, quality, and the simple enjoyment food plays in our everyday lives.
Environmental Commissioner Dianne Saxe headlined the event
On November 8th, ClimateWise Business Network held their second annual York Region Leaders' Sustainability Forum at the Markham Museum. The Forum brought together business professionals from across the Region to network and share perspectives on emerging sustainability trends.
ClimateWise is happy to welcome Riverside Natural Foods to the network. Riverside Natural Foods is the home of MadeGood food products. Starting as a family business with three employees 5 years ago, the company now employs over 300 people today. Riverside is a certified Bcorp Corporation, reflecting the commitment to consider people, the planet and as well as profit in every decision.
Minister of Finance meets with ClimateWise members

ClimateWise Business Network welcomed federal Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau, to Windfall Centre on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. The Minister discovered how ClimateWise members Compugen and Reesor's Market are taking steps to reduce their GHG emissions. Minister Morneau shared updates on Canada's climate plan.
Ontario is hitting the reset button on climate policy. With the old plan out and some high-profile cancellation announcements, there is some confusion about which programs and policies are continuing, changing or eliminated, the implications and opportunities, and how and when to provide input and develop new programs.
ClimateWise hosts interactive seminar for faith communities
On Sunday, September 16th, ClimateWise Business Network hosted an interactive seminar for faith communities. Our presenters shared their experience on how to track and reduce energy in faith buildings in a cost-effective manner. Special thanks to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Thornhill for hosting.

ClimateWise member Jaffari Community Centre is making big changes to improve their sustainability and benchmark their energy use. From replacing single-use utensils to creating waste diversion videos to help teach their community members, the organization is en route to meeting their sustainability goals.
The Regional Municipality of York's anti-idling program for ambulances resulted in an annual savings of $50 000 and GHG emissions reduction of 102 tonnes per year.
