The *Solar Idol Contest

Get Creative

The *Solar Idol Contest was an online talent search for solar science solutions from Ontario high school students. We asked students to produce a creative 1-3 minute video that showcased their innovative solar energy solution to the world's climate crisis.

All forms of renewable energy powered by the Sun were eligible for submission, including photovoltaic, wind, water, photosynthesis, and more! We received entries that covered topics such as photovoltaic, transportation, photosynthesis, international development, water, and more!

Submit your Video

Ontario high school students submitted their videos, either in English or French, for online judging by their peers and by a panel of professional judges.

Win Prizes

All eligible video submissions had a chance to win amazing prizes! Video submissions were also featured exclusively on *Solar Idol's Video Channel on Vimeo.
