Volunteer Opportunities at Windfall

There are currently three volunteer positions available at Windfall Centre:

Lead Changemaker, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Transformation

The Centre's activities focus on empowering communities to create lasting wealth in a carbon constrained 21st century

IT Roadmap:

Windfall Ecology Centre is embarking on an organization wide upgrade and integration of business systems including, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Service, and Financial Accounting. We have selected the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform to anchor our IT transformation. The project enables our Change Maker teams to more effectively design and deliver innovative climate change solutions to the communities we serve.

Volunteer with our Team

Do you have a passion for solving business problems with IT solutions? Would you like to apply your skills and talent with an accomplished non-profit organization dedicated to building sustainable communities?

If so, please talk to us about joining fellow Changemakers within a passionate and innovative sustainability focused group implementing multiple enterprise solutions within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment. Our IT specialist will be our go-to for all things IT related. Working with the Executive Director the Lead Changemaker, Dynamics 365, will help the rest of the communications, marketing, and client service team with system design, troubleshooting, coding support, and project support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Windfall Team implementing integrated sales, marketing and Field Service integration projects
  • Turn ideas into reality by helping to develop and integrate leading edge outreach campaigns using Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform.
  • Coordinate with other team members and functional areas on projects
  • Act as a resource for resolving IT issues

Skills Required:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP platform
  • Experience with Functional Capabilities within CRM, (customization, configuration).
  • Strong communications skills
  • A passion for linking your IT expertise to improving local sustainability efforts

Time commitment:

Approximately 4 hours per week, including virtual or in-person bi-weekly team meeting.


Events Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Events Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with event coordination for educational and technical workshops for the ClimateWise Business Network by liaising with speakers and venues, conducting research and finding resources to guide staff decision-making, aiding in event planning and implementation, and assisting with on-site events and clean-up.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaising with past and potential exhibitors to ascertain their precise event requirements; order supplies and equipment, make travel arrangements;
  • Conduct research and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities;
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process;
  • Prepare name tags, materials, packages, gift bags, registration lists, organizational charts, etc.;
  • Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events as necessary; close out all events as required.

Key Skills Required

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Education in sustainability, environmental studies or business or marketing is an advantage;
  • Prior experience in an events role preferred;
  • Able to work independently and find solutions;
  • Desire to learn new things and adapt quickly;
  • Interested in environmental or sustainability issues.

Time Commitment

Minimum 5 hours per week, plus weekly team meeting.

Business Development Researcher

Job Purpose

The Business Development Researcher will be responsible for conducting research to support the ClimateWise Business Network team, with a focus on industry-specific campaigns, preparing market research, developing case studies and providing up-to-date business case data.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting, synthesizing and compiling research to support industry campaigns (for example, industry-specific business case data, company profiles & contact information);
  • Supporting decision making, coordination & outreach involved in all industry campaigns;
  • Supporting other ad-hoc market research for the business development team, such as research on cold leads.

Key Skills Required

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Education in sustainability, environmental studies or business or marketing is an advantage;
  • Experience in a research-focused role;
  • Self-motivated, driven and organized;
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented and dependable;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Interested in environmental or sustainability issues.

Time Commitment

Minimum 5 hours per week, plus weekly team meeting, and biweekly business development strategy meeting.
